High-Mix Low-Volume Products Assembly Demonstration

In this video, we are assembling a box-shaped mock-up of high-mix low-volume products using Mitsubishi Electric’s 6-axis articulated robots “RV-FR series.”
By utilizing Techmake’s multifaceted robot hand and reproducing the process from supplying the workpiece to tightening the screws with a robot, we succeeded in creating a state closer to full automation.
For internal board connection, the 10120 series is installed. Its floating function offsets mounting misalignment and completes board mating.
The Unit-able connector is applied to the interface, enabling automation of high-mix low-volume products.
By using a collaborative robot for the material supplying section, we have realized a safety fence-less system. We have also implemented the judgment of assembly quality and traceability of information based on the vision sensor, force sensor, and driver output information.

10120 Series

A 2.00mm pitch and Z-Move™ floating type parallel connection board to board connector for connection in equipment are designed for use in harsh vibration environments. It has a movable (floating) structure and a 0.65 mm movement in the X Y direction. The Z direction has a resonance amplitude of 0.02 mm and an effective mating length of 0.7 mm. A 2-point contact structure for reliable removal of foreign matter even in tough environments. It can be used in high-temperature environments up to 125°C.

IRISO’s original floating technology, “Z-Move™” (registered trademark), is adopted. This connector has excellent resistance to vibration and shock, as it moves in the Z direction while the contacts remain fixed, preventing contact point misalignment due to resonance and shock. IRISO’s unique analysis system can simulate the appropriate fixing method for your equipment.

Unit-able Connector

The Unit-able connector is a conceptual product that can meet various customer requirements by standardizing the unit socket and customizing the interface. It enables automation of high-mix low-volume products, which has been a challenge for robot assembly.
