IRISO Electronics Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Hitoshi Suzuki; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) has achieved a B score in its 2024 climate change submission to CDP, a global non-profit that assists companies to assess and disclose their environmental impact, as an outstanding company taking into account their impact on the environment and showing some evidence of managing this impact actively and effectively. Besides, the Company has obtained a C score in its water security submission.
CDP conducts sustainability assessments of more than 24,800 companies globally. It collects and analyzes environmental disclosure data, and based on the analysis, companies are rated on an eight-level scale: A, A-, B, B-, C, C-, D, and D-.
The B score places the Company in the third highest band corresponding to Management Level, which highlights the Company’s roles responsible at management level for climate-related risks and opportunities.
The Company is committed to supporting a decarbonized society and circular economy through its decarbonization, and resource conservation and recycling efforts, as well as to fostering a safe, secure and sustainable society for people and the environment. Therefore, the company’s materiality goals set in 2024 include “helping create a safe, secure and sustainable society for people and the environment” as a key priority.
To achieve this goal, the Company has set out the KPIs of net-zero CO2 emissions from electricity by 2025, 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (compared to the 2021 level) and 30% reduction in emissions produced per unit of electricity generated at the group plants by 2030 (compared to the 2021 level), and it is committed to reaching these targets.
