dielectric-loss

Dielectric loss

It is a phenomenon in which the energy of an electric signal in a dielectric (insulator) is lost. The lost energy becomes heat. Basically, it occurs at high frequencies, and the parameter called dielectric loss tangent (Tanδ) is important. See also low dielectric materials.
